Raismary Bueno-Lebron - Blog #2

This project was interesting and educational. It included a thorough examination of four important issues from different points of view. Group 4 (the group I was part of), decided to concentrate on gender equity because it is a major concern that affects people all around the world. We worked hard throughout the project to ensure that we treated this delicate topic with the sensitivity and fairness required. To guarantee integrity and precision, we cautiously validated all of our information from a variety of resources. Conducting interviews was my main role; I talked to two females and asked both instructive questions regarding their journeys with gender equality and whether they felt their rights were completely stood for. Even though I was unable to present on the scheduled day, I finished my section so that someone in my group was capable of taking over, and afterwards provided a tape of my part. Group 1 decided on the relevant but controversial topic of immigration reform. Con...

Blog #2 Elections Matter

This past project was very enriching and interesting to put together. Reading and researching about not only our country but the whole world and how they see these 4 topics was really eye opening. My group, group 4, did our project on gender equality. We all took our time putting together this project and tried our best to do this sensitive topic justice. We went through multiple sources to fact check our points and tried to reach a neutral ground. On the day of presentation, we had our hiccups and missed a couple of our group mates but pushed through the presentation.  Group 3 followed in presentations and had a wonderful PowerPoint on education policies. They explained these policies in history with clear bullets and detailed the views of the current presidential candidates. I think group 3 did a wonderful job of highlighting issues globally as well as here in the United States. Each group member room their time presenting their sections and clearly put effort in researchin...

Women earn less than men on average, and fewer women hold top jobs. Issues like sexual harassment and gender violence are still common, showing that there's more work to do. Around the world, the situation varies. Some countries, like Sweden and Iceland, are leaders in gender equality with strong policies. The United Nations aims for global gender equality by 2030, and many countries are working towards this goal. However, in many places, women face big challenges. Cultural norms, legal issues, and economic gaps keep women from getting education, healthcare, and jobs. Practices like child marriage and female genital mutila...
